Goals for the Class:

Appreciate the classics of American Literature

Perceive connections between literature and its social context. Notice how literature is both influenced by and influences the historical period in which it is written.

Integrate reading and writing

Discuss important themes and how they relate to modern life

Prepare for various upcoming tests: PSAT, SAT, ACT

Create a Career Passport, consisting of a resume, a cover letter, and a career narrative
